1. Method for Android
Any image on the screen of a phone can be saved as a screenshot, unless it is prohibited by the security policy at the OS level. Google Maps is no exception.
You can take a screenshot on Android by means of a special Screenshot touch app, it can be downloaded from Google Play.
Algorithm on how to download image from Google Maps:
Step 1. Download and open Screenshot Touch app.

Step 2. Define a path to save the image (Photo Path option).
Step 3. Open Google Maps app.

Step 4. Open the desired address via Google Maps search bar.

Step 5. Tap on the image to open it fullsreen.

Step 6. Take a screenshot via the Screenshot app (pressing the power and volume button).
Step 7. Open the image to check the result.

Now it remains to find the saved picture on your phone. Normally, all images are saved to the Gallery.
In addition to saving screenshots, this application contains an image editor. It, in turn, allows you to make edits to an existing screenshot, insert text into the picture; edit / crop images captured on Google Maps.

2. Method 2 for iPhone
As for iOS, users also have limitations when using Google Maps images.
However, for iPhone devices, the standard method of taking screenshots will do. It does not require installing specialized apps.
Step 1. Open the desired image through the iOS browser or Maps app.
Step 2. Tap the top button and the Home button simultaneously.
Step 3. As a result, the screenshot icon will appear on the screen.
This is the easiest way to quickly capture a Google Maps image; it works on most iPhones (10, 11, 12 and older). You can save a Google Maps snapshot via iPad in the same way.
How to view saved Google Maps photos on iOS:
Open the Photos app.
Select the Albums directory, there is another folder inside - Screenshots.
To save the screenshot to Dropbox / Google Drive cloud or transfer to another service, use the "Send" or "Share" option.
3. Saving a Google Maps image through your browser
If you are using the desktop version of Google Maps, try another method.
Open Google Maps in your browser
Search for the location whose image you want to save.

Find the user who saved the image
Click the button with three dots to the right of the user's name.
After that, several options will be available. You need the Report a Problem function, click on the corresponding button.

- Actually, we are not interested in the Report a Problem feature itself. If you click on an image, the Save Image as... command appears in the context menu. Use it to save the image.

Note that the image may be protected by copyright, and subsequent use of the image may violate the terms of use!
- Select a location to save the picture and click the Save button.

Open the image through any image viewer.
If you need to download several other images to Google Maps, use the same algorithm.
